While still an undergraduate I made this copy of "Apples and Oranges" - a painting by Paul Cezanne (1839-1906). I studied his use of color planes, intense hues and clear brush strokes that build up to establish complex fields and dense/weighty forms.
Cezanne formed the bridge between late 19th-century Impressionism and early 20th-century Cubism. He remained an influence on my vision as a painter for many years.
