This is a close-up view of the drawing ... with the artist in repose.

The thicker meandering lines were made by dragging the rake behind me, searching for an end-point. A long slender stick created the thinner lines and two oversize figures in a circle. One figure symbolizes Grasping and the other Letting Go - perhaps the dilemma all humans face daily.


technical info: the large circles were made by planting a vertical stick in the center with a long rope attached; the other end of the rope (with a second stick attached) was taken to the circumference. Digging that stick into the sand I walked the circumference while pulling the rope tight.
